I'll try to do better! Last Saturday I woke up expecting a boring day of mismatched college football games and high calorie intake. At about 11 AM though, my roommate told me about a fun filled trip of cliff jumping in KY. Without much thought I counted myself in on the trip and we set off with four other guys to a spot where a train tressel crosses over an Ohio River tributary. The water was about 12 to 15 feet deep all around. The concrete that had been put in for the train tressel had ledges at 15 and 45 feet that dropped straight into the water. And then the five that were really brave (and where shoes not flip-flops) dared to walk out onto the train tressel and jump off from 65 feet. I was the whimp, but I'm going to make the jump next time in shoes. I did however do the 45 footer several times and it was a blast. The tressel also had a rope hanging off that was a lot of fun. For those of you who are very worried about my well being, I know it's a little dangerous, but we swam around the pool of water in order to make sure it was all deep enough (even though one guy in the group had jumped there before), and we only found a few spots with tall pointy rocks that could have divided us in half at impact. Just kidding! It was safe and a whole lot of fun! (The pics above are taken from 45 feet. You can watch a short video if you check out my facebook page.)

Semester, college football, fantasy football begin!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_vraAB1nH8L0/SLdzijWN3kI/AAAAAAAAAHA/FkwHwyUkAmo/s320/cameronbroadcasting.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5239783728910032450" />
It has been a busy last couple of days here at the Lord's Army Basic Training Camp at CCU. I started classes off yesterday with Adolescent and Child Psychology from 8-8:50. I immediately made my presence known by shouting the word puberty during class discussion. (It came out with a bit of a squeek.) I moved on to Geology at 9. Well actually I moved on to some Old Testament class only to realize that I had confused my days and classes. So once I found the proper class I was hit with the devestating news that a mandatory field trip to the wilderness of Mamouth Cave had been scheduled for the weekend of the LSU vs. Auburn game. I mentioned the conflict, but was not even given the satisfaction of a verbal response. That was the end of yesterday's classes and today's classes were OT Prophecy with my favorite, Dan Dyke, and Basic Bible Doctrine with Snyder. Snyder is an interested character who will probably be given his own profile post on here.

Other happenings this week included the beginning of the NCAA football season which started with two SEC football teams winning. And opening day also included a superstar like broadcasting of the Ball State game by Cameron (pictured above) and his new and improved color guy. I didn't catch his name. To listen to future games go to WCRD.net.

Finally, I must mention that we had our live draft for the family fantasy football league. We didn't get quite the attendance that I had hoped for, but that's okay. It's going to be a fun season and I can't wait to kick Mom's butt. lol.

My bald head

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vraAB1nH8L0/SK_AVINVbZI/AAAAAAAAAGo/ZDK0YMuB7bI/s200/DSC00490.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5237616360868375954" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vraAB1nH8L0/SK_ALagM6FI/AAAAAAAAAGg/ovigZsNNkVc/s200/DSC00483.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5237616193980655698" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vraAB1nH8L0/SK_AEV9YWII/AAAAAAAAAGY/mnmP91OpOK4/s200/DSC00486.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5237616072501778562" />
Sho' nuff I traded in my fro for some shine. While I drove my car packed with my stuff, both sets of parents drove a truck full of HER belongings and Larry's pulled a Uhaul with more of the same. The day moved along smoothly with minimum tears (which was probably due to the fact that Lindsay and I both returned with our parents for one last night at home.) Problems were at a minimum up until 12:30 that night when my phone rang with a text message that quickly turned my nights sleep into a nights amount of worry. In the message Lindsay informed me that she could not find the only set of keys to her recently purchased Cavalier which was suppose to be our ride back to Cincinnati on Sunday. I was later informed that the keys were most likely in Cincy. So thanks to Eva's generosity we made it back to Cincinnati in her Toyota Yaris. After looking almost everywhere for the keys Lindsay discovered them in her shoe which she had left in Cincinnati. I spent my summer working at the French Lick Resort Donald Ross Course while Lindsay bartended at the Resort's steakhouse called 1875. I'm going to take a very quick stance on bartending and that is that there is no better place to witness for Christ than a place where messed up people feel comfortable dumping all their problems. If you still have a problem with the issue take it up with God Himself!
Okay, I'm off my high-horse; now on to the rest of the summer. For the most part it was pretty laid back. My days consisted of several alarms sounding from about 5:15 to 5:30 AM until I finally felt like I had enough beauty built up to last another day. Work would last from 6-2:30. The early start was nice because it allowed me to get in on good recreational activities such as trying to play the beast that is the Donald Ross Course, Fish, Swim, etc.
Lindsay on the other hand tended to sleep late and work later. Although a less routine schedule allowed her some time in recreational activities also. Overall it was a great and fast summer and December 20th seems to be approaching faster and faster all the time.

Filling giant shoes

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_vraAB1nH8L0/R8pDD7Rvf6I/AAAAAAAAADg/R97vSNGQlKc/s320/perry.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5173020856719212450" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_vraAB1nH8L0/R8pC9LRvf5I/AAAAAAAAADY/8IAKNdZ6jOA/s320/stewart.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5173020740755095442" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_vraAB1nH8L0/R8pC17Rvf4I/AAAAAAAAADQ/3oHqqa322tg/s320/coury.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5173020616201043842" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_vraAB1nH8L0/R8pB57Rvf3I/AAAAAAAAADI/9iiYOnCgciY/s320/carter.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5173019585408892786" />

So the Cats suffered the devestating blow of losing one of the SEC's leading scorer's and rebounders, Patrick Patterson. So the question is now: who will fill the shoes? It's going to have to be a collective effort of the men above starting today against the runnin' Vols and finishing with the National Championship Game. So we're going to take a look at the feet that are going to jump into Pats shoes.

Our first filler-inner is Scott County's own Jared Carter. (far right)
Year: Junior
Height: 7-2
Weight: 260
Pros: Obviously his height is an advantage you can't overlook. (no pun intended)
Cons: Jared has very little game experience and seems to be a bit of a softy. He also has been injury prone (shoulder) in his years at UK.
Best on-the-court accomplishment: Jared scored had twice as many points as he did minutes played in the LSU game (2 to 1).

Our next contestant is Mark Coury. (right center)
Year: Sophomore
Height: 6-8
Weight: 230
Pros: Mark...uhhh...plays hard. He must be a great practice player. Anything else is really hard to come up with.
Cons: He's slow. He can't jump. He can't shoot. He's an awful defender. He has an unfailing confidence in his ability to score even though everyone else confidence in that matter has dwindled to nothing. There! I found it! His pro is confidence.
Best on-the-court accomplishment: Mark is well on pace to set the record for the most starts with the least minutes played in a single season. Unfortunately this record will probably not be reached due to Pats injury.

Next is A.J. Stewart. (left center)
Year: Freshman
Height: 6-8
Weight: 210
Pros: A.J. is probably the best athlete on the team. He is long and can leap out of the Gym.
Cons: His athleticism is a little bit raw. His basketball skills are a little under developed and his Basketball IQ is also a little behind.
Best on-the-court accomplishment: A.J. was actually UK's leading scorer in the first half of the Vanderbilt game on February 12. He had 3 of the team's 11 points for the half.

Our last, and most formidable filler is Perry Stenson. (far left)
Year: Sophomore
Height: 6:9
Weight: 201
Pros: Perry has been making huge leaps all season. He is a great shot blocker and seems to have a knack for dunking the basketball.
Cons: His offensive low-post presence is something that needs to improve quickly with the loss of Patterson. He has been making strides in this area though.
Best on-the-court accomplishment: Perry's 14 points and 7 rebounds were huge in the Cats first game against Tennessee, a 72-66 win at Rupp Arena.

With the exception of Perry, this crew has about as much game experience as the managers. They do, though, have ability. They are capable. And if they weren't ready to play a huge part in this season when they woke up on Friday morning, I hope they have used the last 48 hours to ready themselves for the games of their lives.
GO CATS!!!!!!

WE WILL NOT QUIT!!!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_vraAB1nH8L0/R8h3brRvfuI/AAAAAAAAACA/8x_sel7wMu4/s320/pat.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5172515489392328418" />
The News
A call from Drew at about 1:30 today left me with the most disturbing news of the UK basketball season to date: Patrick Patterson is out for the season. When he said it, I checked my calender to see if it was April 1st. This had to be a joke. This season has already been plagued with injury after injury, but this was the worst.
The Realization
As the reality of the blow set in the uneasy feeling in my stomach got worse and worse. I turned my attention to message boards and begged uncontrolably for mercy. For about an hour and half I complained, whined, counted the injuries of the season. I went from hopeful to helpless in the moment of the words "Pat out for the season."
The Fight
But then I was reminded by an article on aseaofblue.com that this is Kentucky Basketball. This is the best program in the history of the game. We are the BigBlueNation. And we do NOT throw in the towel. I was reminded of a fade away three pointer to end regulation against Florida. I was reminded of Perry Stevenson's inspired play when Tennessee came to Lexington. I was reminded of how this team had clawed and fought their way from a 7-9 record that was considered completely out of the NCAA Tournament to a 16-10 team with a chance to take the lead in the SEC on Sunday. I was reminded of HEART. This team has had HEART all season. We as fans have hoped with our HEART of hearts all season. It's not over. When it is our HEARTS will turn to next year. But until the final buzzer sounds on this team we will believe with our HEART. And we WILL FIGHT! GO CATS!!!

I'm Back!!!!!!!

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_vraAB1nH8L0/R8T5BhWvJ1I/AAAAAAAAABw/-Neq_PKohGU/s320/tetrazzini-sl-1176192-l.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5171532076657092434" />
So I am finally posting again after a week and a half of not posting. I would apologize for the lack of posts, but it would have been more a sin to post anything that happened in my boring life in that span.
Acually that may not be true. Last weekend was actually very exciting. I drove home for an early weekend on Thursday. I met Lindsay at Granny and Grandad's at about 2:30 and within five seconds of parking my car I was iced in. So Lindsay and I settled in for a romantic get away (or something like that.) Grandad fixed some quail fingers and we played Clue. Lindsay and I both struggled to get a clue as less enthusiastic competition i.e. Granny and Grandad beat us to the solution each time.
As much fun as that romantic sleepover was, Lindsay topped it with a Valentines dinner to die for. She fixed chicken tetrazzini (one of my favorites) with bread sticks and brocolli. It was fantastic! She doesn't love cooking, but she is really good at it. And best of all, I got to bring leftovers back to Cincy with me.
It was really a fantastic three and a half day weekend and I am looking forward to being home again for spring break March 7-16.

CATS wrestle game away from LSU!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_vraAB1nH8L0/R7eK-xWvJzI/AAAAAAAAABg/e8DXOo0nPyQ/s320/ramel.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5167751908436158258" />
So the Cats played right in the middle of my noon to 4 shift at work today. Don't worry though, I hardly misses a second. Since O'Charley's was completely dead I sat at the bar and watched the game.

At my estimation, there was very little hangover effect from the fifth worst loss in UK basketball history. Our offense still struggled at times (especially in the first half.) Of course it didn't help that PPat sat the last seven minutes of the half. Our intensity really picked up as the second half began with an 11-1 UK run giving us a 39-31 advantage. We held a not so comfortable 3 to 6 point lead most of the game until a scary moment in the final minute with LSU taking possession with a one point deficite. Luckily the best play call LSU had in their arsenal was an NBA range three point shot from their center. The CATS sank freethrows to seal it and won 67-63.

Positive notes

-Meeks played 13 minutes today and was 2/3 from behind the arc. He was rusty, but everything I've heard points to next Saturday for him to be back full throttle.

-The CATS had a solid day handling the ball with 13 turnovers (much better than our average) to 16 assists.

A night of bowling, pizza, and made for TV drama

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_vraAB1nH8L0/R7aV3hWvJyI/AAAAAAAAABY/maPfGnvEGqY/s320/WRWilliams.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5167482403533301538" />
Tonight was glow bowling night for the CCU family tonight. Just about all the students gathered at the Western Hills Bowling Ally for some pizza and bowling under the blacklights.

I started slow with a 79 in the first game (mainly because in golf I am always shooting to break 80 and it was hard for me to get that out of my head.) I improved drastically after that game though and fired an 82 and then followed that with a 97 and a 137. With these four scores and the perfect 300 I received for my good looks my average for the night was.....uuuuhhhhhhhhhhh.......You figure it out. We don't do math at CCU.

The most dramatic point of my night came in my third to last frame after I had just realized that I was part of the 10% of players on our two lanes (which had ten players all together) that had not bowled a strike all night. So, knowing that the pressure was on, I intently went through my routine starting with a deep breath and then ending with my "Fred Flinstone twinkle toes" just before gracefully approaching the fault line. I let it go and as I looked at the perfect roll of the ball I thought to myself "this could be the one!" It hit the head pin first send eight other pins flying into the air and leaving one to wobble in place. As I watched that one pin my heart skipped a beat and it dramatically fell giving me my first and only strike of the night!

By the end of the night my bowling game was being compared to that of six time PBA Player of the Year, Walter Ray Williams Jr (pictured above). Really the only difference between him and me was about 180 points on our average.

Signing out from The Nasty Nati

Indiana's violations

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_vraAB1nH8L0/R7XqGBWvJvI/AAAAAAAAABA/2andx8DSGzw/s320/IU-Shame.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5167293536641427186" />
This mock cover of Sports Illustrated was created by Matt Jones of Kentucky Sports Radio and published on kentuckysportsradio.com.

While I'm sure this would surprise some people, I was very saddened by the allegations on the Kelvin Sampson and the IU basketball program. I considered IU's program a key player in the college basketball landscape. Despite the lopsidedness of the series over the last 15 years or so I had always considered them a formidable opponent. And then there is the fact that I love Lindsay and I hate it for her.

So that was my soft side. Now I will admit that after many years of hearing IU fans dog on UK for cheating, I could not be happier that I don't have to hear the "holier than thou" bit from any IU fan again.

The next coach
     I am led to assume that Sampson will be fired for taking IU's program from bad to dispicable. So who will take the helm. I've heard a lot of talk about Tom Crean and Jim O'Brian, both of which are quality coaches and would fit well at IU. Then there is the fact that William Montgomery Knight resigned at Texas Tech just in time for this vacancy at IU. Probably just a coincidence, but it's intriguing non-the-less. Or could it be Pat? Pat Knight that is. Bobby's son who just took over at Texas Tech with no head coaching experience. I would say anyone from the Knight family is highly unlikely, but it makes for good discussion.

While we're on the subject of basketball GO CATS!!!!

LOST

Every Thursday night at 9 P.M. EST my friends on 4North and I all gather into Josh's (my RA) dorm room and watch an hour long episode of LOST.
Most of the people on our floor had been keeping up with it every season. For some of us though, like me, we didn't get into it until the fall `07 semester. I watched the first three seasons on DVD as did all the others who had to catch up.
Our LOST parties consist of about 12 to 15 people usually. Cramming that many people into a dorm room is pretty uncomfortable. Tonight I sat on the floor leaning against a bed with my legs stradling the legs of a chair. I've definitely been more comfortable while watching a TV show, but the sacrifice to be with my boys is well worth it.
By the way Sawyer is a BEAST!!!!

Signing out in The Nasty-Nati

The first day of The Coreyer Journal

So I guess this shows how boring my Valentines Day has been so far. I have had enough time to sit around and create my own blog. I will use this site to update everyone (mainly Granny) on what's going on in my life. More than that, though, this blog will be used to voice my opinions on everything ranging from my classes to my favorite sports teams and just sports in general. I'm new at this whole thing so it might take me a while to get this going so just bare with me. I will try to spice my life up as much as I can so that it is more enjoying then the rundown of my day that Lindsay usually receives over the phone. I hope you all enjoy!
